The project is situated in the dunes close to villa gessel, a sea resort approximately 500 km from Buenos Aires. It’s program is multifunctional mixing a cultural, and educational center as well as a restaurant. The surrounding area is almost without human intervention, it is one of the rare natural places near villa gessel. A town that has undergone the “Costa del sol” treatment of endless development projects.
The coast here is strongly built up with very little regard as to the natural beauty of the spot. It is thus a question here of creating a space very aware of its environment. What is built cannot simply imitate nature; it is by its material nature in opposition with the untouched environment. This project tries in spite of the strength of built environment to harmonize its relationship with nature. This does not mean that it complies and follows the forms of the dunes, but rather that it lets what surrounds it dunes, weeds . . . reconquer it, and in fact encourages its own disappearance. No effort to keep the dunes at arm’s length is taken or imagined. We plan here to accelerate what is called “state of ruin” a state where nature takes back little by little what the structure had appropriated.
This slow reconquest allows not only to create a surprising architectural experience but also to amplify the topography of the area hence creating various anomalies within the landscape.
To create a project where this situation was possible I chose a very fragmented plan so as to split up the mass of the program. I decided to control the various views to give the impression of isolation in the face of a vast and desolate environment. The project plays on the variation of levels, using these changes that occur often, to multiply the possibilities of flux of people and appropriation.

I decided to control the various views to give the impression of isolation in the face of a vast and desolate environment. To control these views I imagined a mechanism where each view is directed as to not see any of its fragmented counterparts in spite of their proximity.
